We congratulate our immediate past president Phyllis Scott Lowe for being honored with the Mildred L. Robinson Outstanding Chapter Basileus Award at the 86th annual Far Western Regional Conference held in Costa Mesa, California on May 2.
The award is presented to an AKA Graduate president for her stewardship of chapter programs, leadership agility, knowledge and application of the organization’s and chapter’s by-laws and creating a spirit of harmony and sisterhood.
Under Scott Lowe’s leadership from 2012 to 2014, Delta Upsilon Omega kicked off programming with unprecedented community activities that has garnered the attention of the community as well as the media. Signature programs have included, MLK 40 Days of Peace / Sunday Suppers for which was funded with a grant from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – one of only a few presented across the country. We partnered with our neighboring chapter, Zeta Omega Omega, from Tacoma, WA to host a Community Youth Summit focused on STEM that included distinguished facilitators from the Department of Health, Microsoft, Washington State Department of Engineering, University of Washington Department of Admissions, Seattle Area Community Colleges, and others.
We congratulate our sister, Phyllis Scott Lowe, on her award for her years of leadership and contributions to the sorority.
