On an annual basis, Delta Upsilon Omega Chapter awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside in the local Puget Sound region and will matriculate to a college or university in the Fall. On June 3, 2017, Delta Upsilon Omega joined fellow Seattle NPHC organizations to celebrate this year’s scholarship recipients and distribute two $2,500 scholarships to two deserving young women. The Seattle NPHC’s Scholarship Banquet serves as a great opportunity to annually recognize each local NPHC organization’s contribution to supporting our local youth who have plans to further their education. This year’s banquet was especially memorable, as the keynote speaker following dinner was a fellow member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Mrs. Linda Thompson-Black. Mrs. Thompson-Black delivered a passionate speech about the importance of education, and particularly HBCUs. The banquet closed with the distribution of scholarship awards from all of the NPHC organizations in attendance to the standout student awardees.
