The ASCEND Program is a youth enrichment program designed to motivate, engage and assist high school students in reaching their maximum potential by receiving academic enrichment and life skills training to support their journeys to college or vocational employment. The Program is focused on:

Achievement; Self-Awareness; Communication;
Engagement; Networking; and Developmental Skills

Students will experience engaging workshops, interactive hands-on activities & community events focused on:

  • Transitioning from high school to college, vocational/technical schools or work;
  • College preparation (focusing on desired college major/career choices);
  • Enhancing students’ self-esteem and confidence;
  • Study and test preparation skills;
  • Cultural awareness and community engagement; and
  • Developing global citizenship skills

Activities include:

  • Team Building / Goal Setting / Leadership Development
  • Enrichment Workshops
  • Career Exploration
  • College Exploration
  • Community Service (Students may earn community service hour credits through this program)
  • STEM/SMART Expo
  • Cultural/Arts Enrichment

ELIGIBILITY

Open to male and female high school students currently enrolled in grades 9 – 12, in good-standing with their schools, who have at least a C (2.0) grade point average (must maintain while enrolled in the ASCEND program).

Most recent report card (unofficial copy will be accepted); and

One Letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher or community leader (on school/organization letterhead with contact information included)

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE REPORT CARD AND THE LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION READY BUT ARE INTERESTED, PLEASE SUBMIT AN INTEREST FORM ANYWAY.
